Val Milagu refers to the dried berries (with their tails) of the Piper cubeba plant. These berries are similar to black pepper but distinct because each has a slender stalk ("tail") attached. They have a pungent, slightly bitter flavor and an aromatic, warming effect. Traditionally used in Ayurveda and Siddha as both a spice and medicinal ingredient.
